Hiroshima Sunrise Service

Tomorrow, Saturday, August 6, at 6 a.m. there will be a sunrise service sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Peace Council in remembrance of the bombing of Hiroshima. The service will include words, songs, prayer and silence and take place at the Gay Head Lighthouse overlooking the Cliffs and ocean. This will be the 34th year of this service that aims not to assign blame but to recall the destructiveness of the nuclear bomb in order to deepen and broaden commitments to justice and peace. Anyone who wishes will be given the opportunity to speak.

For those wishing to attend but without transportation there will be carpools leaving from Cronig’s in Vineyard Haven at 5:15 a.m. and from Alley’s in West Tisbury at 5:30 a.m.
