Klays for Kids
Bill Damora from Oak Bluffs and Point Pleasant Beach, N.J. has won the 2011 14th annual Klays for Kids Charity Skeet Shoot at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club on Sunday, July 17. This fun event, contested under ideal weather conditions, benefits the club’s three projects for Island kids.
Following Mr. Damora was Joe Smith of Edgartown in second place and Brian Welch of Oak Bluffs, who took third place.
Each participant shot a minimum of two rounds of 25 targets, but could shoot as many additional rounds as he or she wanted. The goal was for the shooters to put their two best rounds of 25 targets together for the highest score. Participants pay 25 cents to $1 per missed target, dependent on the shooter’s ability. About $175 was collected from this year’s event.
The club’s annual Skeet Championship will be on Sunday, August 14. As always, the public is invited to attend the meet, and refreshments are available throughout the day.
