Chilmark’s biggest thrill this week has to be the arrival and visit of the Stanley Cup to the Chilmark Community Center. It was the buzz for most of the day. Hooray to all those who got to see and touch!

The days of August have been humid and hot most of the time, with some spectacular lighting and thunder to complete the traditional August experience for New England, but in all, August is providing the vacations that most have anticipated all year.

Congratulations to all those loyal folks at the Chilmark Community Center who managed to produce a most successful book festival last Sunday in spite of the downpours that filled the day.

We all send best wishes to June Manning, intrepid reporter of all things Aquinnah, who is recovering at home this week from surgery performed in Boston the beginning of the week. We hope she will be out and about soon,
