All was quiet for the First Family on Monday morning, with no scheduled events and as of mid morning no movement from the Chilmark home in which the Obamas are staying.

Sunday was anything but quiet for vacationing President Obama who was out and about on the Vineyard from morning until late evening. The Obamas began the day with a morning beach excursion to Job’s Neck beach in Pohoganot in the rural coastal reaches of Edgartown. In the early afternoon, while Mrs. Obama and the children stayed at the beach, the president then zipped over to the Vineyard Golf Club to play nine holes plus a few extra with a foursome that included his Chicago friend Eric Whitaker, White House trip director Marvin Nicholson and Robert Wolf, an executive with UBS America who played with the President last summer too.

In the late afternoon the President returned to the Summer White House at Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark but did not stay put for long, heading out in the early evening with Mrs. Obama and daughters, first to a private event at the home of Brian and Aileen Roberts in West Tisbury (the press pool complained loudly about driving conditions as the motorcade and entourage bumped down John Cottle Road, calling it “an unpaved, deeply rutted, eight-foot wide private path hemmed in by ivy, scrub oak and big, scary boulders.”)

Mr. Roberts is the chief executive officer of Comcast; he built his large home near Paul’s Point several years ago.

After that it was down-Island to Oak Bluffs for a stop at another favorite Presidential vacation haunt: Nancy’s Snack Bar. A crowd of hundreds gathered around the harborfront restaurant while the Obamas bought dinner to go. There were chants of “Four more years!” and “We love you!” from the crowd. The Obamas then headed around the corner to senior advisor Valerie Jarrett’s house on East Chop where they ate dinner with friends. Mrs. Obama was described as striking in a black top with spaghetti straps and a full yellow, white and black skirt. The Obamas stayed late at the Jarrett home — heading back to Blue Heron Farm just before 11:30 p.m.

The day was punctuated from morning to night with briefings for the president on the changing situation in Libya.

More briefings were expected Monday morning.
