The second annual Buddy Harris Bid Whist Classic was held at the Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs on Thursday, August 25. Buddy’s widow, Barbara Harris, committed to continuing his legacy, was thrilled by the attention and interest in the Bid Whist Classic as an annual event in tribute to her late husband. For more than 20 years Buddy incorporated bid whist as a part of his daily routine during his annual two-week vacation in August.

Cochaired by Duncan Walton of Oak Bluffs and Leonard Stephens of Silver Spring, Md., this year’s tournament proved to be more successful and exciting. Winners of this year’s event were as follows: First place, Margaret Bush Ware and Crystal Silas; second place, Bobby Dockery and Gerard Peterson; tied for third place, Marsha Gadsden and Frieda Morris and Curtis Gadsden and Arthur Powell. Details for the third annual Buddy Harris Bid Whist Classic will be announced at a later date.
