Grant for Artists

The Martha’s Vineyard Center for Visual Arts (MVCVA) has announced a new grant program for Island artists.

The new grants program was established with money from the sale of the Firehouse Gallery, which the MVCVA previously owned, to Alison Shaw and Sue Dawson.

The MVCVA formed in 1991 as a nonprofit, noncompetitive, unifying organization for visual artists on Martha’s Vineyard. Its focus always has been to support artists and to reach out to the community by enriching the understanding and love of the arts. The new grant program is another way to help artists.

The grants will encourage Martha’s Vineyard artists of all disciplines to explore and develop their creative ideas. Work in all media such as visual and performing arts, literary endeavors, film and any art related subjects will be considered.
