Please Adopt Us

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has a special little dog that is our featured animal this week. Her name is Mia and she is a sweet, year-old Yorkie who had to be given up to the shelter for adoption because sadly her owner is moving and the landlord would not allow animals. She gets along very well with cats and kids. She will be spayed on Tuesday and will be ready to go to a new home by Thursday. Please stop by the shelter and see her so we can put an adoption pending card on her cage. You won’t be able to resist her.

Shelter cats who need homes are: Chloe, a beautiful brindle and black cat who came from an abusive home and needs to go to a place where she can come and go on her own terms; Annabelle, another rather shy black and white cat who would do very well in a family with patience and a lot of love to give; Storm, really just a kitten herself who has just had a litter of kittens; Penny, our famous double-pawed cat (cats with double paws are supposed to bring good luck) who was a stray from Pennywise Path in Edgartown; Bart, a lovable black cat who was a stray from Vineyard Haven; Adelaide, another young cat who just had a litter of kittens, a pretty tabby with beautiful markings.

We have a nice cat at the shelter who needs surgery to correct a urinary problem. The surgery will probably be fairly expensive, so if you would like to contribute to the Susie Fund, established for just this sort of emergency, please send your check to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard, P.O. Box 190, Edgartown MA 02539.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
