Please Adopt Us
Our featured animal this week is a tiny kitten we named Catama because she (or he) was found in the Katama area of Edgartown. About four weeks old, Catama would fit in the palm of your hand. We believe he strayed away from his mother and became lost; luckily someone found him and took him to the animal control officer who brought him to the shelter.
He was fostered and nurtured by another good-hearted soul and is now ready to go to a permanent home. If you are interested, please call the shelter. Our other great cats are Chloe, who has been at the shelter for a very long time and really needs to find a loving home; Butter, a young brindle and white kitty; Annabelle, black and white and a little shy but ready to come out of her shell; Ceilia, our shelter mascot who loves all the attention she gets when greeting all of our prospective adopters; Bart, a sweet, gentle all-black cat who is about two years old; Napoleon, our Maine coon cat who needs to be an indoor cat only and needs a lot of loving attention; Graham, a handsome, gentle, long-haired gray and white fellow who also loves attention; and one more kitten which we saved for last, Duma, about eight weeks old and a beautiful tortoiseshell. It is unusual to have kittens at this time of year.
The shelter needs cleaning supplies, including laundry soap and dish washing detergent.
Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
Volunteers are needed and contributions are always gratefully accepted; we are funded solely by donations. The Susie Fund was established to pay the medical expenses of animals at the shelter who need medical care. Please make checks out to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 190, Edgartown MA 02539.
