Three town residents will join the ranks of affordable homeowners in Edgartown.

At a short meeting Monday, Edgartown selectmen approved a covenant with two purchasers for homes through the town’s buy-down affordable housing program. The Edgartown Affordable Housing Trust will contribute $200,000 toward each property. The homes were purchased by Derek and Brooke Avakian and Heather Anne Slayton. The Avakians paid $405,000 for a house on 22nd street in the Ocean Heights section of town. Ms. Slayton paid $399,000 for a home on The Boulevard in Ocean Heights.

The two $200,000 contributions from the affordable housing fund go to pay down the purchase price on the homes to make the monthly payments smaller for the homeowner.

In other business, the selectmen named Rob Morrison deputy shellfish constable.

They also discussed the Wharf Pub’s annual closing in February. The selectmen will be asked to approve a closure from Feb. 19 through March 16 at next week’s meeting.

Selectman Arthur Smadbeck did not attend the meeting.
