Black Powder Shoot
The Martha’s Vineyard Rod & Gun Club will hold its 12th annual Black Powder Shoot on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., one day in advance of the start of primitive firearm deer season. Members and the public are invited to participate in the muzzle-loading marksmanship competition.
Competitive events involve loading, shooting and reloading for accuracy and points. There will be two firearm classifications, as well as prizes for both traditional and modern muzzleloaders. Scopes are allowed. The winner of the competition will receive a Black Powder Champion’s trophy and have his or her name engraved on the Black Powder clubhouse perpetual plaque. Other prizes include hams donated by Cronig’s Market. There is a small fee for participation in the event.
