The Vineyard Nursing Association has announced the addition of a new and yet familiar face. Katie Ferreira, a 2000 graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, will join 14 other nurses on the VNA staff.
Prior to coming to Vineyard Nursing, Ms. Ferreira’s worked at Rockville General Hospital in Vernon, Conn. and Cape Cod Hospital, where she gained valuable experience in the medical/surgical ward, the intensive care unit, a medical telemetry unit and the cardiac step-down unit.
“Katie brings everything we look for in a nurse: great schooling, varied nursing experience and a compassionate personality,” said Sandie Corr-Dolby, clinical director of Vineyard Nursing. “What’s more, is that she is coming home to work for us!”
“As a home health care nurse, you have the time to teach your patients in their own environment, where you can be the most influential,” Ms. Ferreira said. “I grew up in this small, close community where I was afforded many opportunities. Now it’s my turn to give back.”
