I have not seen any snow yet, but I imagine I won’t when the weather is 40 degrees. This all seems to good to be true and I wonder what the future is going to bring.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Quinten Cabral, who celebrated his day Dec. 18; Abigail Gilley, Dec. 19; Samantha Folts, Dec. 22, and to Anna Keenan, who celebrated her day Dec. 23.

Friday and Saturday are the fun days of the Christmas season if you are around the towns. I talked to a few men on Wednesday who said they were nowhere near ready for Christmas and some have not even started. So Friday and Saturday you can amuse yourself watching all the boyfriends and husbands running around getting things together.

Congratulations to Steve Ewing, the new Edgartown Poet Laureate. Steve joined fellow Edgartown poets Ellie Bates, Valerie Sonnethal and William Waterway and a host of Island poets in a celebration of the winter solstice on Dec. 21 at the Vineyard Haven Library.

I have missed the Christmas countdown from Sarah Lyn Townes on Facebook. She usually starts at 100 days out, but hasn’t been updating it much. I saw her in the Stop & Shop and asked her what happened. She had some surgery and was off her feet for a little while, but is now back and we are watching the countdown with just a few days left.

Her sister, Rebecca, is all smiles as her daughter, Kayla Johnson, is home from her studies at Manhattan College-Leo Engineering Building.

I have talked to several other mothers who are happy to have their kids home. Grace Conklin is pleased her daughter, Kellyn, is home from her studies and her son, Christopher, is on his way home. Jen Rose was anxiously waiting for the arrival of her daughters, Megan and Amanda. Zachary Waller was home for five minutes before going to Moscow to spend the holidays.

I wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Years.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
