Please Adopt Us

The new rocking chair (a gift from a generous friend) in our cat room is really getting a workout — the cats just love it and so do the volunteers who sit and comfort all our lap cats. It is amazing how much it calms them down.

There hasn’t been much adoption activity since the holidays, so we still have a lot of full cages. We are hoping that as soon as every one catches their breath, the adoptions will pick up.

It is hard to feature one particular cat, but Eric, our senior kitty is such a love and would make a wonderful pet for a senior citizen. He is a gentle and loving orange tiger.

Our other cats are: Chloe and Butter, two beautiful brindle tortoiseshells with unusual markings; Annabelle, who is quite shy still but slowly responding to kindness and attention; Ceilia, our shelter mascot and a real lap cat; Napoleon, a once-feisty Maine coon cat who has decided he loves attention and is so handsome; Kitty, a lovely, gentle gray-striped tiger who loves attention and purrs loudly when petted; Westie and Deacon, two gentle, sweet orange tigers; Velma, new to the shelter and we can’t decide whether to call her a calico or a tabby , but nonetheless beautiful with a lovely coat; Lily, also new to the shelter and all black; Barnie, a six-month-old all black kitten and a real character who loves to chase any toy that is on the floor.

Our beautiful, gentle lap bunny is an all-white dwarf rabbit who loves attention; her name is Annabelle.

Our two dogs available for adoption are Mackenzie, a big, beautiful Chesapeake Bay retriever who needs to go to a loving home where he will get lots of exercise; and Missy, the pit bull who needs a special home and owner who is willing to be the boss and help her become a good member of society. Missy loves people but does not like other dogs and we have particular requirements for anyone who wants to adopt her. Among other things, she needs a fenced-in yard, and whoever adopts her must own their home. Please come see her if you meet these requirements.
