Juno Boat Subject of Fireside Dinner

Imagine, if you will, a tasty repast, by fireside with the waters of Vineyard Haven harbor just a few yards aft from the window. And while you tuck into your victuals, pictures of boats and black dogs spotting the walls, a bearded man with glasses and an ever present smile steps to the lectern. He proceeds to spins a yarn for your pleasure about building a wooden boat, and not just any boat, mind you, but the 65-foot schooner, Juno.

The night described above will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Black Dog Tavern. It is the kickoff event in a series of winter dinners to be held by Sail Martha’s Vineyard. The bearded man is Nat Benjamin of Gannon and Benjamin Marine Railway and the keynote speaker. He will discuss the building of Juno from its design in 2001 to its eventual launch in 2003.

The cost for the dinner is $20 for adults and $12 for children.
