Please Adopt Us

Our featured animals this week are two very sweet cats, beginning with Eric, who is our senior cat, getting along in years, a dark orange tiger who just loves people and gets along with the other cats very well. The shelter will forgo any adoption fee if some kind-hearted guardian angel will adopt him and give him a nice warm home for whatever time he has left. Our other featured cat is Tigger, a gray and white male kitty who is new to the shelter this week, very affectionate and learning to get along with other cats, so it would be best if he were the only cat in a household with no children.

Our other cats are: Chloe and Butter, two brindle tortoiseshells (Butter has unusual eating habits and eats her food with her paw, fun to watch, she is very neat and tidy about it); Annabelle, a black and white, a little shy but slowly becoming more social; Ceilia, our shelter mascot who is all black and loves all the other cats; Lily, who is also all black; Kitty Randolph, a beautiful, sweet and gentle striped female tiger; Napoleon, a Maine coon cat who is still with us although we can’t imagine why because Maine coon cats are a rarity on the Island; Westie and Deacon, two beautiful ginger tigers with wonderful personalities and purrs to match.

We also have two dogs: Mackenzie, a lovable purebred Chesapeake Bay retriever who is big and strong but very sweet natured; and Missy, purebred pit bull who loves people and loves to ride in Gordon’s car, but doesn’t care much for other dogs so she needs to be an only dog in a home with a nice fenced-in yard.

If you are interested in any of these animals, please come visit the shelter. And we would like to remind everyone who has lost a pet to please call your animal control officer and the shelter. Just this week a beautiful cat who had been missing since June was brought to the shelter and happily reunited with her owner.
