Please Adopt Us

Everyone who has shown an interest in our beautiful Chesapeake Bay retriever Mackenzie will be happy to know that he has found a wonderful new home in New York state on a 300-acre farm with two ponds and some other Chessies to run with. We are thrilled. It is our fervent hope that all our animals will be so lucky.

Our cat population remains about the same; this is a slow time of year for adoptions and we hope with spring just around the corner the adoptions will begin to pick up. All of our cats are so great and healthy and lovable.

Our wonderful cats available for adoption are: Chloe and Butter, both brindle and white (Butter has an unusual way of eating with her paws); Annabelle, Ceilia and Lily, all black cats; Napoleon, our handsome Maine coon cat; Westie and Deacon, sweet and friendly pale beige tabbies; Eric, a ginger tabby and a senior citizen canine just looking for a soft bed and a lap to curl up in (the shelter will forgo an adoption fee for him); Kitty Randolph, a perfect gray striped tabby who just loves people; and Tigger, our featured cat this week, beautifully behaved, loves other cats and ready to make someone a great pet.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

The shelter P.O. box number has changed — it is now P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown, MA 02539. Donations are always welcome.

The shelter will hold an open house on Feb. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate our new nonprofit status. Please come meet the animals and the staff; there will be refreshments served. Children are welcome.
