Short Film Festival
This Saturday and next the folks at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society are bringing to the Island a cast of short characters. It’s their annual screening of all the Oscar nominated short films.
On Feb. 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven, is a program featuring the five nominees for animated short films, none of which are longer than 15 minutes.
The films range in subject matter from a New York City slicker who, on his morning stroll, meets a dandified chicken, to an Englishman who moves to the Canadian frontier and finds his life resembling that of a comet.
The beauty of short films is that if one does not suit your tastes, another subject and style comes along almost immediately. Not that any of these films are second-rate. These are the Oscar contenders after all.
Next Saturday, Feb. 18, also beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Katharine Cornell Theatre, are the live-action short films.
