The Mites took on Lower Cape on Saturday, falling 5-3 after a fast-paced final two minutes in which they pulled their goalie for an extra skater and narrowly missed tying the game. They will play their last games of the regular season this weekend during a Needham tournament, and take on Nantucket in the first round of the playoffs the following week.

The Squirt 1 and 2 teams faced off against each other at the Martha’s Vineyard Arena on Saturday, with the Squirt 1 team taking the win 5-2. Nantucket provided a formidable foe for the Peewees as well, as the Vineyarders dropped their double header to the Nor’easters. Prior to playing the Peewees, however, Nantucket had allowed just three goals all season; the Vineyarders doubled that tally in their 6-3 loss, with Colin Buckley, Jacob Gundersun and Ellie Hanjian scoring and assists coming from Colin, Jacob and Shay Sullivan. In the second game the team took a 3-0 loss.

The Peewees closed out their regular season with a 4-0 win against Lower Cape on Sunday. Colin and Jacob turned in two goals each; Justin Alexander and Julia Levesque each had an assist. Zach Fullin and Cathal Robinson turned in strong performances in goal, stopping 44 shots between them to get the shutout. The Peewees will take part in the playoffs on March 10 and 11.
