Please Adopt Us

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has two unusual animals to feature this week. The first is a bunny named Stewart; all at the shelter agree that we have never seen such a beautiful animal. We think he might be part angora because he has such a luxurious, soft coat. He has long, soft lop ears and is mostly white with a touch of gray. He is a true lap bunny and loves to be held and petted. The other featured animal is a purebred seal point Siamese cat who was picked up as a stray behind the high school. He jumped into someone’s car and seemed to be quite happy there; he clearly was someone’s pet. We later learned that he had been abandoned when the owners left the Island and decided to leave him here. Abandoning a pet is an act of cruelty, and we remind anyone who has a pet that they can no longer keep to please bring it to the shelter, where we will take good care of the animal and do our best to find a loving home for it.

Other cats available for adoption are: Barley, a young female tabby; Butter and Chloe, two handsome brindle tortoiseshell females; Ceilia and Lily, both black females; Deacon, a sweet, loving, male orange tiger who is a real couch potato and loves being held and petted; Kitty Randolph, a wonderful, gentle tabby; and Isabelle, a loving young tabby who is really just a kitten and loves to play; Tigger, a gray and white handsome young fellow; and last but not least, L.B. or Lover Boy as we have named him, a young tabby and white who will grow to be a big cat (he is only about six months old now and is the most gentle, loving cat we have had in a long time).

Please come and see all these wonderful animals and sit in our rocker with one in your lap. All need good homes. If you would like to see a picture of some of these animals, please go to our Facebook page.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
