Please Adopt Us

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has a few nice animals who need good homes. Some of these cats have been featured in this column before, but now it has become a priority for us to find them homes. The first cat is Tigger, a handsome gray and white kitty who has developed some problems that can only be cured if we can find him a home. He hates being confined in a cage and is becoming intolerant of the other cats. He should be the only cat in the household. Will someone please give him the TLC he needs? We know that with care and love he will become a wonderful house cat, and has a lot of love to give in return. Lily is another sweet black cat who hates being confined. She is allowed to roam the shelter at will and is a gentle lap cat, but wants to be in a loving forever home. BeBe is new to the shelter and is a sweet tortoiseshell. She is a big girl. Quitsa is the sweet older male cat who was found as a stray in Chilmark and brought to the vet with multiple medical problems. We would love to find a good home for this old gentleman. Chloe and Butter have been featured so many times and they are beginning to believe that no one is going to give them a home. Both are beautiful tortoiseshells. Barley is a pretty tortie and white cat who had to be given up. She misses being in a loving home with a soft lap to sit on. Ceilia is our shelter mascot who sits on anything or anybody who will give her attention. If you have an empty spot in your house and heart, please come to the shelter and check out all these really deserving cats.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

Volunteers are needed and contributions are always gratefully accepted; we are funded solely by donations. If you would like to make a donation in someone’s memory, or in a beloved pet’s memory, please make checks out to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown, MA 02539. If you would like to check out our wish list of tools and repair items, please go to the Edgartown Hardware Store on Edgartown-West Tisbury Road. The store will deliver the items you pick out to the shelter. The supplies are badly needed to keep our building in good shape. We thank everyone in advance for their donations. Remember, too, that donations are tax deductible.
