West Tisbury selectmen voted Wednesday to pass regulations for the sale of beer and wine, the final step in turning the historically dry town wet.

The move comes less than one week after voters at the town election overwhelmingly approved permitting the sale of beer and wine at restaurants with more than 50 seats and issuing one-day beer and wine licenses for special events.

Per the regulations passed by selectmen, licensed restaurants in West Tisbury are now eligible to serve beer and wine from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and 12 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. All beverages and glasses must be off the table by 11:30 p.m., and all beer and wine orders must be accompanied by a meal — defined as anything but snack foods such as chips or pretzels. All meals must be served on dinnerware with flatware; no disposable plates or plastic cutlery can be permitted except when the state law requires.

Restaurants will be subject to regular inspections by police.

Town administrator Jennifer Rand said she expects applications for restaurant and one-day licenses to start rolling in, at which point the board will schedule public hearings for their approval.

Application processing fees are $200; restaurant license fees are $350 annually, and one day-licenses are $25. The Plane View Restaurant, Lambert’s Cove Inn and State Road Restaurant are all eligible for licenses.
