Please Adopt Us
The resident population at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is down to just six cats. They are Barley, Butter, Ceilia, Chloe, Deacon and Lily, all wonderful older cats who badly need to find homes. Soon it will be kitten season and many adorable kittens will turn up at the shelter; we never seem to have enough to fill the request for them. But that leaves all our adult cats still looking for homes. Won’t you please consider giving a home to an older cat? All our cats have been spayed or neutered and micro-chipped, so if they ever stray they can be returned to their owners. And think of the advantages of adopting an older cat that has already gone through the crazy antics of kittenhood — a calmer, more mature feline pet.
In addition to all of our wonderful cats, we have two adorable guinea pigs named Hamlet and Ophelia, both brown and white and only a few months old , who are waiting for a special child or other new owner to take them home.
Special thanks goes out to Rego Paint Service for our beautiful sign that sits at the end of Pennywise Path. They did a marvelous job and the shelter appreciates the gift.
Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
Volunteers are needed and contributions are always gratefully accepted; we are funded solely by donations. The Susie Fund was established to pay the medical expenses of animals at the shelter who need medical care. Please make checks out to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown MA 02539.
