Climb Aboard History

Did you know it is the 200th anniversary of the war of 1812? Simple addition leads to a big Duh, but then again it’s not just about math. The War of 1812 sometimes gets lost in the shuffle of bloodier battles.

But on Wednesday, May 16, in conjunction with this anniversary, a replica of the original Privateer Lynx is coming to Vineyard Haven, specifically, the Tisbury Wharf, located at 144 Beach Road. The Lynx is a 76-foot schooner with a crew dressed up in period clothing. There are also lots of cannons on board and they don’t fire themselves. They need your help.

Tours of the boat are between 5 and 7 p.m. The cost is $25 per person with children 12 and under free. Reservations required. Call 508-627-4441, extension 110 for tickets.
