The Permanent Endowment Fund for Martha’s Vineyard is accepting nominations for the 2012 Creative Living Award. The award recognizes individuals who have contributed significantly to the Island’s quality of life and embody the spirit of former resident Ruth J. Bogan.

Ms. Bogan, a nurse by trade, taught herself painting, photography, sculpture and three languages, and was an adept cook and gardener. The Ruth J. Bogan and Ruth Redding Fund was established following her death to support organizations meaningful to Ms. Bogan and to recognize members of the community sharing her “creativity and ingenuity” in many fields.

Award recipients receive a $1,000 honorarium from the fund. West Tisbury poet and artist Daniel Waters was last year’s recipient.

To nominate an organization or individual for the award, send a letter or e-mail describing the person’s contributions to Island life, and explain how they personify the qualities of Ms. Bogan. Nominations are due by June 22. The Board of the Permanent Endowment will review the candidates. The mailing address for nominations is P.O. Box 1182, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557 or ajason@endowmv.org.
