Please Adopt Us

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has just taken in two adorable, beautifully-trained, well-mannered Lhasa Apsos named Meadow and Mink. Meadow is eight; her daughter Mink is six. They won’t be at the shelter long because they are so nice, but the shelter is insisting that the two go to a new home together. You must see them to appreciate this. They will sit in your lap and charm you to pieces.

Kittens are slowly starting to come in and there is a long wait list. If you are interested in adopting a kitten you must put your name on the list.

Cats available for adoption include a new beautiful tuxedo black and white male named Baby, who is three, gentle and kind and gets along well with the other cats; Barley, a beautiful tortoiseshell and white; Butter and Chloe, both tortoiseshells; Deacon and Mango, both ginger cats; Ceilia, the sweet black shelter mascot; Panchie, a gray and white two-year-old male whose owner died recently; Thor, a big, beautiful black handsome guy who has been on a diet to lose a little weight and it’s working; he has lost two pounds!

Zoey is an adorable brown guinea pig with the lucky white stripe around her middle.

A big thanks to Ellen Blodgett, the wonderful Edgartown animal groomer for her kindness in grooming the shelter animals at no cost, and to her husband, Mark who has been so helpful with plumbing issues. The generosity is much appreciated.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
