The 47th annual meeting of the board and membership of the Vineyard Conservation Society (VCS) will take place at the Wakeman Conservation Center in Tisbury on Tuesday, June 26, at 5 p.m. This year’s meeting will feature a presentation by landscape designer and native plant specialist Kristin Henricksen.

Ms. Henriksen will discuss gardening and landscaping with native plants and the broader impacts on our natural environment of the choices that are made to beautify our surroundings. She will address lawn and landscape care that nurtures native plant species and protects natural resources like our coastal ponds.

The Vineyard Conservation Society is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to preserving the environment, character and quality of life of Martha’s Vineyard through advocacy, education, and the protection of the Island’s land and waters.

Refreshments will be served and the event is free and open to all. The Wakeman Conservation Center is located on Helen Ave., one mile up from the Vineyard Haven end of Lambert’s Cove Road; see sign on left. For more information, call the VCS office at 508-693-9588 or go to vineyardconservation.org.
