Megan McHugh of Edgartown has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. The award, bestowed upon 102 graduating high school seniors from across the state, recognizes students who display leadership skills, academic achievement and a commitment to community service.
Ms. McHugh traveled to the State House to accept the award at a ceremony attended by Lieut. Gov. Timothy Murray.
“Each year, we are excited to provide Leaders and Achievers scholarships to talented students like Megan who demonstrate leadership in school activities and a strong commitment to community service,” said Steve Hackley, senior vice president of Comcast’s Greater Boston region.
The scholarship program, established in 2001, has to date awarded more than 17,000 scholarships totalling more than $17.4 million.
