Short days, short season, short column.

Welcome back to M.V. Tile Company! They have relocated to our town, where they started 17 years ago in a 300-square-foot space behind Rainy Day. Find them now at 123 Beach Road, Vineyard Haven, just next to Vineyard Scripts. This is a gallery-like shop. They say they are thrilled to be back. Days and hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Just in time to choose tiles for your holiday renovations.

Leigh Smith was excited to learn that her grandson, Charlie, son of Procter Jr., became engaged to his lovely Cath. The wedding is set for next year. Leigh has been waiting and hoping one of her five grandkids would surprise her with this news. Charlie did so at the Thanksgiving reunion at daughter Pam’s home. Congratulations.

Please join us at the P.A. Club from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9. See your friends and share the camaraderie in support of Mikey Waters. This is a Spaghetti Supper Extravaganza with dinner, a 50/50 drawing and a raffle.

Just in time for this season, don’t miss a free Martha’s Vineyard Community Services special on Thursday, Dec. 13 in the regional high school culinary arts room. Dr. Maxwell will give a talk on “Holiday Blues,” the famous name for seasonal depression. Clinicians will be available for private screenings.

The birthday bandwagon pulls along Larry Bird, Rose Cogliani and Knara Mahtumova today. Tomorrow is shared by Janey Sobel and Pat Codding. Dec. 9 honors Rachael York, Christine Honig and Joanne Gardella. Dec. 10 belongs to Issabel Walker and Eric Claussen. Dec. 11 is a party for Crystal Sylvia and twins Jackie and Carol Tileston. Dec. 12 shines on Michael Holenko, Vamp Campbell, Taylor Ardeed Meadows and Samia Arado. And on Dec. 13 Nancy May Hehre takes the cake. Many happy returns.
