The Martha’s Vineyard Center for the Visual Arts is accepting applications for its 2013 grant program. Applicants must be at least 18 and have their primary residence on the Vineyard.
Recently the center showcased its 2012 grant recipients at Featherstone Center for the Arts. Grants were awarded to Island artists for projects including documentaries, art exhibits, theatre projects, photography and murals.
The 2012 winners were Bill O’Callahan, teaching pottery at Camp Jabberwocky; Thomas Bena, creating a documentary chronicling the American dream of home ownership on the Island; Ed Smiley, one-man exhibit; Christine Bresnahan, appliqué work; MV Film Festival, creation of a two-man elephant costume; Phyliss Vecchia, theatre project; Linda Ziegler, new media; Jamie Rogers, metal work; Ken Vincent, portraits; Ed Shullman, paintings; Basia Jaworska Silva, canotype paintings; Margot Datz, mural paintings; and Ruth Major, portraits.
