At long last, March has arrived. The light snow on Sunday evening was not as bad as earlier predictions had scared us with. It was all melted by Monday morning and we enjoyed warmth in the mid-40s on Monday and Tuesday, but Wednesday was a full day of rain and wind. The weather was so bad my cousin Kristina missed her boat to Boston so we had to rearrange our plans for the day.

Aquinnah and the remainder of the Vineyard appeared rather vacated this week as probably half the Island ventured elsewhere during school vacation week. Some have headed south to warmer climes while others ventured north to enjoy the skiing and snowboarding.

Dinner and a Movie for the kids at Aquinnah Public Library will feature the last of the Cinema Circus series on March 7 at 5 p.m. with Best of the Big Top 2012 with Harold and the Purple Crayon. Cheese pizza (regular or gluten free) will be served with veggies and hummus. Parents may bring their scrapbooks or photo albums to work on while the kids watch the movies. The next series will begin on March 21. Library director Lisa Sherman and her daughter, Maisie, assisted with the previous pizza night. Next week there will be another family-friendly film with popcorn and lemonade. March children’s movies feature the films of Issey Miyake and the Studio Ghibil.

Toddler storytime with Barbara Lampson continues on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Rosa Parker reminds everyone that Saturday is all-day coffee at the library.

Speaking of Kristina Hook-Leslie, she will be the guest chef for ACE MV’s Wampanpoag cooking class on March 12 at the Edgartown School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. To register, go to acemv.org.

On Wednesday, March 13 at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, Barbara Lampson will be teaching Home Landscaping Planting Designs 6:30 to 8:30 pm in five classes.

PechaKucha will be back on Friday, March 8 at 7:30 pm at the Harborview Hotel in Edgartown. You may choose your topic to be presented in 20 images for 20 seconds. The evening is very gratifying in learning new adventures. If you would like to be a presenter, please call Jessica Barker at 508-627-4441 ext. 117.

Sophia Welch and Kyle Colter recently returned from a three-week visit to Barcelona, Spain where they enjoyed the countryside, the city sights and the great food and beverages.
