There’s still space available in Martha’s Vineyard Coast Guard Auxiliary boating skills and seamanship course. The 10-week course begins Wednesday, March 6 at 6 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and will continue through May 15.

This in-depth course will cover topics and techniques such as choosing, powering and equipping a boat, safety equipment, trailering, boat handling, aids to navigation, navigation rules, nautical charts and basic piloting, knots and lines, weather and marine radio. The course is approved by the Massachusetts Environmental Police. A certificate is awarded upon successful completion.
