Several Vineyard winter sport athletes have been named to All-Star teams in their respective conferences.
In boys’ basketball, captains Izak Browne and Jack Roberts earned Eastern Athletic Conference honors for the second year in the row. Girls’ basketball captain Jennie Lindland also repeated as an All-Star, and was joined by senior teammates Katie Stewart (also a captain) and Maggie Riseborough.
Browne, Roberts, Riseborough and Lindland also participated in the annual Cape Cod All-Star Basketball Games, held March 17 in Hyannis, playing for the Lower Cape squads alongside teammates from Nantucket, Nauset, Dennis-Yarmouth, Pope John, Monomoy, Sturgis East, and Cape Tech. The games spotlight Cape Cod’s “finest players,” tournament organizer Al Faria wrote in the roster announcement letter.
Boys’ hockey captain Charlie Ashmun earned EAC All-Star honors, as did juniors Tyson Araujo and Brian Fraser. This is the second year Araujo has been named an All-Star.
Senior alternate captain Texe Craig and sophomore Aubrey Ashmun represented the girls’ hockey team in the Southeastern Massachuetts Girls Hockey League, and played in the league’s All-Star Game, held February 25 in Bourne.
All-Star athletes are voted on at the end of each season by conference representatives.
