The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has a long wait list for the kittens who will soon become available for adoption. All of the kittens have been wormed, had their first shots and as soon as they are old enough will be spayed or neutered. They receive many hours of socialization and will all grow up to be loving house pets. Older cats available for adoption are: Hazel, a female tortoiseshell; Hero, a handsome gray and white male who loves people but is not fond of other cats so should go to a home where he is the only cat; Michael, a large black kitty; and Simon, a big beautiful striped tiger with white paws who is the shelter’s couch potato.

If anyone has cat or dog beds or toys that are no longer in use, the shelter would love to have them providing they can be laundered. Also if you have unopened pet food or would like to donate pet food, the shelter would be happy to accept it.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662. Contributions are always gratefully accepted; the shelter is funded solely by donations. Please make checks out to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown MA 02539.
