The 35th annual Art Buchwald Possible Dreams Auction will be held on Sunday, July 28 at the Winnetu Oceanside Resort in Edgartown. Tickets are only $25 per person and benefit the largest social services organization on Martha’s Vineyard, serving more than 6,000 people every year. The doors open at 3:45 p.m., the silent auction will begin at 4 p.m. and the live auction with auctioneer Jimmy Tingle will begin at 5 p.m. There will be a bar and food available during the auction. Those donating auction items from Aquinnah include Duncan Caldwell, who with his wife, Nancy, will share with you a tour of the prehistoric caves near Paris. Captain Buddy Vanderhoop will once again donate a charter with Professor Charles Ogletree aboard his Tomahawk charter boat. Lunch will be provided by the Aquinnah Shop — a delectable delight created by Chef Jacob Vanderhoop. See you there.
Thank you to Marcy Nichols for her Possible Dreams Auction advertising displays in the windows of LeRoux in Tisbury and at Eastaway in Oak Bluffs.

Former Aquinnah resident, actor, writer, producer and director Larry Mollin will present Search: Paul Clayton on Monday, July 29 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center. It’s a wiki folk musical about one of Bob Dylan’s early musical mentors. In Greenwich Village from 1961 to 1965, folk singer Paul taught Bob the tricks of the trade while falling helplessly in love with him. The one-night staged musical reading features the talents of Jemima James, Phil DaRosa, Nina Violet, Erich Luening, Ollie Childs, Johnnie Mulin, and Danny Jensen of Aquinnah and Hollywood, as Paul Clayton.

Tom and Cindy Dourmashkin are vacationing with their family at the Dourmashkin summer home on Moshup Trail. Tom and Cindy have been coming to Aquinnah every summer for the past 44 years. His parents Dr. Leonard and Bernice Dourmashkin first came to the Vineyard in 1960 when their children could gleefully hitchhike about the Vineyard. Tom and Cindy’s children, Jordan, Caitin, and Susannah are all here along with Jordan’s wife Danielle and their children Chloe, Leah and Isabel. Galen Summer and Ryan Greendyk are accompanying Caitlin and Susannah. The house on Moshup’s Trail and the beach in front are filled with many happy memories of family, sunsets and seagulls on the deck, along with summer feasts and so much fun.
Did you see Ernie Garvin Jr. and his wife Denise up-Island this week? I was delighted to see them on Tuesday while at the Chilmark Church for lobster rolls (THE BEST!). They also visited with family in Aquinnah that evening. Ernie and I worked together many years ago in the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital pharmacy. He is still a pharmacist in Texas where they moved 23 years ago. And now, 19 grandchildren later, Denise enjoys the rewards of being a grandmother rather than a nurse.
Aquinnah artist Roberta Gross has a display of her artwork at the Chilmark Library through August 2. Stop by and see her latest works during library hours.
Tim Kausch, his wife Kate Murphy Kausch and their son Noah have returned to their home in Salt Lake City, Utah, after spending their vacation at the home of her parents Tom and Christine Murphy on Old South Road. Tim and the family canine drove home to Utah, while Kate and Noah flew home a few days later.
James and Cynthia Middleton are at their Lobsterville home for the summer. They have enjoyed entertaining their
grandchildren who are coming and going throughout the summer season.
Kevin Sheehan, his wife Jeffie Butler, and their children Maeve and Orrin Thomas Sheehan of Aspen, Colorado are enjoying the summer with her parents Lenny and Mallory Butler. They will remain in Aquinnah through the end of August, with Kevin commuting from Aspen every few weekends.
