Vineyard Sound celebrates the end of summer with a two-hour concert at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on Saturday, August 24, at 8 p.m.

The vocal group was founded in 1992 when 10 college friends came together with a common love of exploring the Island and singing. Each June members move into a house on the Island and begin practicing their varied repertoire of a capella tunes including jazz standards, pop songs and even some children’s songs. Since its founding, the group has participated in nearly 2,000 performances for Vineyard audiences. Most of the college students who make up Vineyard Sound stay two or three seasons before moving on.

Saturday’s concert is the last chance to hear Vineyard Sound this summer. Tickets are $15 and available at the door before the show at the Old Whaling Church on Main street in Edgartown.
