Dr. David Finkelstein of Vineyard Haven recently attended a two-day annual ophthalmology update seminar in Boston. The seminar included classes in the latest techniques in cataract surgery, age-related macular degeneration, oculoplastics surgery, management of malignancies of the eyelid, diabetic retinal disease and the latest technologies to enhance diagnoses of ocular diseases. One interesting lecture called the Artist’s Eye demonstrated how painters of the 1800s developed cataracts, lost the blue spectrum of light and how it altered the colors in their paintings.
Dr. Finkelstein also attended a lecture with Dr. Bradford Shingleton and Dr. Ney of Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston about the latest advancements in glaucoma surgery and treatment.
