Deer season is upon us and here’s a simple reminder to dress appropriately, especially those bicycling, walking their dogs or jogging. The winds have chilled the air for most of the week but have subsided in time for the opening of scalloping day in Aquinnah. Nice to see so many fishing on Menemsha Pond.

Stop by the Winter Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lots of holiday gift ideas from your favorite vendors. There is still an abundance of local vegetables, eggs and meats. Enjoy lunch while shopping.

All are welcome to attend the Second Saturday Breakfast at First Baptist Church in Tisbury on Dec. 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. Dine on pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, juice and coffee — all for only $8 per person, $25 for a family of four, with only $5 for each additional family member.

Noah James Manning returned home on Monday night after spending Thanksgiving with his grandparents Bill and Joan Kistner in Pougheepsie, N.Y. He was accompanied by his parents Paul and Theresa. They enjoyed Thanksgiving with their extended Kistner family immensely. Dan Sauer and Noni Madison recently met up with her cousin Holly (Jenkinson) Bario for dinner in Manhattan. Holly has once again produced another great DreamWorks film, Delivery Man, starring Vince Vaughn. It must be a hilarious film, as it is an adaptation of the documentary Starbuck. Holly and her son Peter arrived in time for Thanksgiving with her parents Pat and Joan Jenkinson and many family members.

Faith Smalley, daughter of Jay and Millicent, returned to her senior year studies at Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield on Monday. We will look forward to her return for the Christmas holiday and winter break.

Carrie Anne Vanderhoop Bellis, her mother Evelyn Vanderhoop, and Tom Fantasia have driven across country and returned to her home in Masset, British Columbia.

Berta and Giles Welch will be in Manhattan this weekend for the American Museum of the American Indian Art Market on Saturday and Sunday at the Heye Museum. It’s at One Bowling Green.
