The boys’ soccer team ended league play on a sour note last week after forfeiting Monday’s match against Bishop Stang.

But with Friday’s announcement of the division three south section seedings for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletics Association postseason tournament, they will get a rematch.

The Vineyard boys take on Stang at home today at 4:15 p.m.

Leading scorer Jason Lages will be absent from the game, as will head coach Esteban Aranzabe. Lages received a red card on a foul during last Monday’s game against Bishop Stang. Coach Aranzabe received a red card after questioning the call after the game. The Vineyard had won the game 2-0 but was forced to take a forfeit.

Bishop Stang is the number 13 seed in the south section bracket, and has an 8-7-1 record.

The Vineyard is seeded fourth, with a 14-2-2 record.

The boys are the lone Vineyard team left in the playoffs. On Friday, the ninth-seeded field hockey team pushed its first-round sectionals match into double overtime, but ultimately fell 2-1 to number 8 seed Medway. Senior co-captain Aubrey Ashmun scored on a penalty for the Vineyard goal.

The golf team traveled to the division three state championships last Monday, where they finished in 10th place of 11, with a score of 366. Weston took the championship title with a team score of 326. Sophomore Finn Simpkins had the highest Vineyard score, shooting an 86 to take 25th of 40 in the individual championships.
