I don’t know about all of you, but I am very confused and a little frustrated with the weather. First it’s cold then it’s hot, then the wind blows then it is hot again, now it’s raining and if it stays cold, it will snow. I can’t wait to see what December brings.

Happy birthday to all of you who celebrated your day this past week. Big balloons go out to Daniel Serpa who celebrated his day Nov. 24; Marina Nunes, Nov. 25; Jack Oteri and Avery Simmons, Nov. 26; Kathryn Cuthbert and Kevin Pinto; Nov. 27; Ava Townes, Nov. 29; Edward Cherry, Nov. 29; Brendan Morris and Hannah Tate-Arena, Dec. 2; Jasmyn Hershey, Dec. 3, and to Michaela Benefit, Katherine Conover and Karla Robadel who all celebrate their day today, Dec. 5.

Well, Christmas is coming and the shopping craze is on. There was Black Friday, Cyber Monday and some leftover for Tuesday. I know I am now feeling the pressure of getting the shopping done. Maybe I’ll start tomorrow.

Next weekend is Christmas in Edgartown. Everyone is getting in gear, and at Donaroma’s we are in high gear getting ready for the opening night of the weekend with the Evening of Enchantment. This year’s theme is Miracles and Wonders. We are all making wreaths and we have gotten in our trees. The lights are going up, in fact there is a standing joke that if you stand still you might get wrapped with lights, so keep moving. We are working hard to make a lot of people smile, so we hope to see you next Friday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m.

I am happy to report that Bill Erickson is on the road to recovery at JML in Falmouth after having double knee replacement. He has a ways to go as far as the healing process, but he is now getting around a little bit at a time. Hopefully, he will be home in the next week or so.

I have been watching Marge Look’s house; Marge lives across the street from me and I have noticed that they are putting a ramp by the front door. I am hoping that means that she will be home for Christmas. Marge suffered a stroke a few months ago and has been in rehab. It would be a good Christmas for her family if she was able to come home.

Tom Dresser’s next book talk will be on Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Anchors in Edgartown. He will speak about some of the prominent performances at the Whaling Church, from the Minnesingers and Island Community Chorus to Tom Rush, Beverly Sills and the Island’s own Gale Huntington. In addition to Tom’s talk, Taffy McCarthy will sing and play the guitar, which should make it a most enjoyable event. This program is free and open to the public.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
