Thanks to a grant from the MV Local Cultural Council to Adult and Community Education of MV (ACE MV), there will be scholarship funds available for students enrolled in arts, education, and social justice, a college credit course through Fitchburg State University.

Through individualized projects, this course explores how the arts can have an impact on social justice issues.

The course is also open to select juniors and seniors in high school as dual enrollment with a recommendation from a guidance counselor.

The course begins Jan. 24, and applications for scholarships are due no later than Jan. 14. The course is taught by instructor Lynn Ditchfield who received her first master’s degree in adult education based on the work of Paulo Freire, the Brazilian educator noted for his approach to critical and creative thinking. She received her second master’s degree in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, focusing in arts in education. Guest instructor Susan Klein will share resources and storytelling skills. Ms. Klein will also offer a five-week enrichment class with ACE MV titled Public Speaking and Microphone Use starting Jan. 20.

Registration is available online at acemv.org for all ACE MV winter classes. For scholarship application and questions, call Lynn at 508-693-9222 or email lynn@acemv.org.
