Poet Fan Ogilvie leads a discussion series on How Poetry Does What It Does at the West Tisbury library beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Participants can sign up for one or all three free sessions.
On Jan. 13 the discussion is titled Metaphor and Other Tropes (Emily Dickinson, Wallace Stevens, William Carlos Williams and the Greek lyric poet Sappho); Jan. 20 discussion is titled Emotion and Intellection (Rainier Maria Rilke, Elizabeth Bishop, Louise Gluck and Sappho); the final program on Jan. 27 is titled Just Words? (Shakespeare, Galway Kinnell, Hart Crane and Sappho).
