Other than the temperatures dipping to -2 and then rising to 50 degrees during the week, there are really no complaints thus far. Just a dusting of snow the other day that did not last long at all, although the resulting ice was treacherous for many. The fact that we have not had a significant snowfall is a little disconcerting this time of the year, and it is as if we just sit waiting for a little snow to make us realize this is wintertime. For now, we shall just enjoy the sunshine each day.
The Aquinnah Public Library has a full schedule of winter events. Every week during January and February on Thursday afternoons at 3:30 p.m., there will be story time and crafts for little kids accompanied by their caregivers. On Saturday afternoons from noon to 3 p.m., will be crafts after lunch — fun crafts and activities with the library staff. On Saturdays through March — all day coffee hour — because an hour is just not enough time to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with the staff, courtesy of Friends of Aquinnah Public Library. On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Kidcraft session will include making a snow globe. On Thursday, Jan. 29, there will be dinner and a movie for the kids. It was nice to see Aquinnah library assistant Barbara Lampson at the Oak Bluffs library where she will be two days a week and will still be three days a week in Aquinnah.
Friends of Aquinnah Public Library is presently accepting donations for the new circulation desk to be finely crafted by James Vercruysse. Donations may be sent to Friends of Aquinnah Public Library, 65 State Road, Aquinnah, MA 02535 or dropped off at the library.
