Well, our Pats fever has been cured by not only their amazing win but also by the blizzard conditions we have endured for most of the past week with freezing temperatures, to now become afebrile. I had a lot of nice family time watching the storm while watching movies, cooking and baking, making s’mores, having my grandchildren Kayla and Noah update my technology and just spending time together. The best part is we made it through another storm without losing power and not being able to do everything we wanted to get done.

Thank you to all of our family and friends who are not residents in Aquinnah for their kind words and support during these past several months. There are many longtime friends who always dined at Manning’s or perhaps they or their family members worked there. Family friends of generations. Friends who have fond memories of Captain Walter Manning, our grandmother Ada and our father James. Those memories and these friends will sustain us through this time. They truly have many great stories of their visits with our family in Aquinnah and the hospitality. The lobster rolls and lobster sandwiches were always a favorite as were the fried clams. Thank you to all of our Vineyard friends for your words of support and encouragement. You have not forgotten us and we will never forget you. Onward.

This week the Aquinnah Public Library will feature a master class in flavored extracts from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Our West Tisbury students in Laura Kass Edelman’s industrial technology class for fourth through eighth grade students is seeking donations for a 3D printer for their hands-on engineering projects. You may donate online through DonorsChoose.org — Project #1449745. Thus far, a balance of $1,065 is still required for the purchase of the equipment. Your $20 donation will go a long way in providing this educational tool for our UPIS Land students for years to come. There must be another 55 people in our community that will donate $20.

Valentine’s Day is just a week away. Chilmark Chocolates will be very busy over the next week, so get your chocolates early before the next blizzard at least. While in Chilmark, Josh Aronie has a fantastic luncheon menu each day at his food truck. We all know how delicious his fries are! Or stop by the Santander Bank at Beetlebung Corner where Lisa Bibko-Vanderhoop and her friend Jessica Kramer will have their work on display and for sale through Valentine’s Day. Friday will be the opening reception at the bank from 4 to 6 p.m., to partake in cosmopolitans and pink cupcakes. Lisa’s box full of chocolates Valentine’s card will be a favorite this year. It is just one page of her Vineyard Sea Dogs Calendar as recently shown on the Today Show. You will be able to choose from her vast collection of cards as well as her 2015 calendar. Jessica will be selling her jewelry.

Fossil Fred Hotchkiss invites one and all to the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Science Fair on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The 2015 Science and Engineering Fair is open to the public. Learn about hands-on science from the next generation of scientists. The students ask great questions about interesting topics and then work out methods to obtain data and test ideas (hypotheses). The culmination of their projects is to present their work to judges, parents, peers, and to you and me. They do this with enthusiasm, poise, pride and delight. Come and enjoy and mingle with Fossil Fred and the students.

Welcome to Suzanne Boyer and her husband Allen Rugg who are very pleased to become full-time year-round residents of Aquinnah after being summer residents for the past 20 years. We will look forward to them being a part of the year-round population.
