U.S. Rep. Bill Keating will be on the Island next Thursday to host a roundtable discussion with Island clergy and others about substance abuse.

Rep. Keating will be joined by Theresa Manning from the Martha’s Vineyard Youth Task Force and Juliette Fay, executive director of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, for the discussion on Thursday, April 9 at 11:30 a.m. The event will take place at the Federated Church of Edgartown, 45 South Summer street, and is open to the public.

Representative Keating represents the ninth congressional district, which consists of the Cape and Islands and parts of Plymouth and Bristol County.

According to a press release from Rep. Keating’s office, ninth district counties are among the Massachusetts communities hardest hit by substance abuse, and the congressman has been holding a series of clergy roundtables throughout the district. The roundtable discussion on the Vineyard will allow clergy and faith leaders to discuss how to prevent substance abuse and how to find resources for families and individuals in need.
