The 23rd annual Vineyard Conservation Society Earth Day Beach Clean-up takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11. Volunteers will be on hand at beaches around the Island, and participants are invited to head to a favorite beach with a bag to gather trash.

This year’s clean-up features the addition of a new beach, after an eight-year absence — in the past few weeks, the channel separating Norton Point Beach from Chappaquiddick has closed, rejoining the two islands. The Trustees of Reservations have invited the public to join them at the site of the breach at noon for a ceremony to commemorate the closing. Earlier, at 10 a.m., beach clean-up participants can meet at the Dike Bridge, where the Trustees will have their trucks available to help with clean-up around Wasque and/or Cape Pogue.

WMVY will be broadcasting live from Eastville Beach during the clean-up.

An after-party celebration takes place at the Harbor View Hotel beginning around noon.
