The animal shelter had some good news today. Both Tui and Winslow were reclaimed by their original owners. Tui will be celebrating his third birthday at his original home. That only leaves two tuxedos in residence, Logo the long-haired female and Mickey, the six-year-old male who seems to be becoming a permanent tenant. Why do all the other cats find forever homes, leaving poor Mickey behind? He is such a nice cat, friendly and mannerly with no bad habits evident to us. Cricket, the 17-year-old calico, has moved out of the cat room to a quieter place on the premises where she can muse on her memories in peace. If some kind person will offer her a place of her own, she can be adopted at no cost. Two more cats are expected to be delivered to the shelter in the next few days so pay us a visit if you need a feline.
Both of the events that occurred last week were a great success. Heartfelt thanks to the Animal Rescue League of Boston/Cape Cod for the spay and neuter program they sponsored last week. Nine Vineyard dogs were operated on in the fully-equipped operating room housed in a van that was parked in the Friends of Falmouth Dogs parking lot. We are also grateful for the volunteers who helped out with this endeavor. The pink and green dog show in Edgartown last weekend was a great success for the dogs and their owners. We hope all of you had a lot of fun.
A reminder to all dog owners: do not leave your animal in the car when you are not there. Now that the weather has warmed up temperatures can reach dangerous levels even in a car with all the windows open.
