Paving projects on several Chilmark roads could create delays or detours for drivers over the next few weeks, according to a press release from the town.

Tabor House Road will be repaved from Middle Road to the landfill from May 19 through May 21, the town said. Tabor House Road will be closed to through-traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on those days, and Middle Line Road and landfill traffic will be directed to use North Road.

North Road between Bliss Pond Road and the Prospect Hill area are next up, with repaving scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on May 26 and May 27. North Road will be closed to through-traffic during that time.

Middle Road between Meeting House Road and the Tea Lane area will be closed to through-traffic for two days in early June for repaving; the dates have not been set. Tea Lane residents can access their homes from North Road during that time, the town said, and Meeting House Road residents can access their homes from South Road.

Local traffic will not be allowed on the freshly-laid concrete, the town said, and drivers will be directed away from the paving operation and should expect delays. Particular driveways or sub-division roads could be obstructed completely for up to two hours while the final top coat is put down.
