Energy efficiency is good for the environment and the electricity bill. Next week, Cape Light Compact is offering a workshop for local businesses about how to save money through the compact’s energy efficiency programs. The event is co-sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce, and the Martha’s Vineyard Commission

Cape Light’s efficiency programs are available to any business on Cape Cod and the Vineyard. The organization offers financial incentives for making energy efficiency improvements.

The program will be held Monday, June 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chilmark Room of the Harbor View Hotel. There will be complimentary refreshments and attendees will receive a free energy efficient light bulb.

Any business that signs up for a free energy assessment at the meeting will receive an additional 10 per cent above the current financial incentive towards the cost of any measures that are installed as a result of the assessment, up to $5,000 and not to exceed the cost of the measure. Attendees will also be entered in a drawing for all costs covered of recommended energy efficiency improvements up to $10,000.
