Polly Hill Arboretum hosts a lecture entitled Landscape History at the Arboretum on Tuesday, June 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. Karin Stanley, PHA staff member, will take visitors on a journey through the arboretum’s history, including the old buildings, stone walls and landscape features, as well as through historic photos. The cost is $5 or free to PHA members.

On Wednesday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m., Edward (Ted) Melillo, associate professor of History and Environmental Studies at Amherst College, will lead a discussion called Biopiracy in the Age of Empire. This talk will show how Europe’s empires were as much botanical enterprises as they were political, social and economic projects. The cost is $10 or $5 for PHA members.
