I am sitting here listening to the much needed rain. The flowers are happy and the birds will be happy that they have some water to splash in. But the sun is set to return for the rest of the week and we will be happy.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Cassandra Silva, who celebrated June 8, Rose Levesque, June 10, Mario Burnham Hernandez and Jovanna Lowell-Bettencourt, June 11, Gabriella Silva Carlos, June 14, and Kayra Carlos and Jackson Pizzano who celebrated their day June 17.
Congratulations to Penny and Gene Townes who just celebrated their 45th anniversary. Here is to many more years together.
Congratulations to all the seniors at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. Their graduation was this past weekend and I loved looking at all the pictures on Facebook — the proud parents, the happy graduates and their friends.
Every year it gets harder and harder to read all the graduates’ names as they are now the grandchildren of my high school friends. But I look forward to reading and hearing about their new adventures in life.
There will be a procession of classic cars from Bend in the Road Beach through Edgartown at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 21. This will be followed by a classic car show on the lawn of the Harbor View Hotel at 11 a.m., and a photo exhibit of antique Vineyard autos by the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, plus hot barbecue cooked right on the spot with ice cold beverages. Enter your classic car to win trophies ranging from Best of Show and first/second/third places. You get a free barbecue meal and a professional snapshot of your car with the entry fee. The event will benefit the Tisbury Firefighters Association.
I mentioned in the opening about the birds because the other night I went out to turn the sprinkler off in the backyard and there were two catbirds under it, and in the arbor was a cardinal like he was waiting for his turn. I didn’t want to turn the sprinkler off seeing as it was bath day in the bird community.
Facebook is doing it again, and some of my friends are a little crazy but did you know it is only 20 Fridays till Christmas! I guess we should start shopping and fulfill our promises to ourselves that we would start shopping earlier. Maybe.
Don’t forget the schools are starting to get out so keep you eyes open for kids on their bikes or crossing the roads.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
